The Unspeakable Universe began when I started a blog especially for fic fragments -- little excerpts from stories whose plot isn't completely clear to me, and which may never even become actual WiPs.  Just ideas, notes, scraps of dialogue ... I love reading them in other people's blogs, but decided that my regular blog had enough going on already.

The first "story" in Fragments of Glass was the first draft of "The Waiting Room".  It didn't really go anywhere, but it planted the seeds for what would, over the next couple of days, become the Unspeakable Universe: a future in which, following the defeat of Voldemort, many of the surviving characters go on to become part of the Department of Mysteries.

I'm rather enamoured with my own idea; there's a lot of room to maneuvre here (so far, the only things I've irrevocably cut myself off from are Minerva McGonagall: Unspeakable and redeemed!Draco).   I even have an arc/plot/Idea of sorts: the enroaching Dark wizards who call themselves the Junto.

what I know so far about the timeline:

1996: during canon 6th year
November: Snape's treachery is revealed, and he is captured and tortured.  Details of his escape are currently unknown.  ("Blood, Bone and Honour")

1997: the end of 6th year
Dumbledore is killed; his body is found in the old Riddle House.

1997: the beginning of 7th year
McGonagall, the new Headmistress, is murdered.
Snape becomes Headmaster.

1998: the end of 7th year
Voldemort is defeated.

1999:
Ron and Hermione begin a relationship.  Ginny and Harry begin a relationship.

2000
Ginny and Harry break up.

2001:
Ron and Hermione end their relationship on cautiously friendly terms.  ("Don't Believe in Endings")

2005:
Neville Longbottom begins teaching Herbology at Hogwarts.

2006:
Hermione begins teaching Potions and sometimes Arithmancy at Hogwarts.

2007:
March: Snape and Hermione begin a very discreet relationship.  ("This Lover")
October: Ginny infiltrates the Community ("Soror Mystica").  Sirius broods on Hallowe'en ("Day of the Dead")
December: Snape and Hermione share a domestic moment of sorts.  ("Not Omnipotence")

2008: ten years after the defeat of Voldemort
"Soror Mystica" (February), "Dreams in Exile" (June), "The Waiting Room" (November) and "This Quiet Place" (later November)
